About Me
Alicia Loran

I am a certified teacher who taught in the public school system for 7 years before staying home with my children.  After my oldest was school age and having difficulties with the school system, my husband and I looked in to homeschooling. I have been homeschooling both sons for 11 years now.  My oldest graduated in May 2021 and my youngest graduated in May 2022.

I taught at PATH in Plano for several years and have also done private tutoring out of my home before taking a teaching position at The Home Educator's Outsource (THEO) in Plano.  I just finished my fifth year as a teacher at THEO teaching the Logic of English curriculum. I am also on the Logic of English list of tutors. I have students in various states. I also currently teach at AIM Academy Online as a language arts teacher and am the the Regional Director and a teacher for One Day Academy Decatur.

I have a soft spot for any student that learns differently than others.  My son is one of those such students. I feel like working together as a team, teacher and parents, we can meet these children where they are and build them up and make them successful.  Success will look different from child to child, but the main thing is that they are met where they are in the classroom and not held to some unrealistic expectation.  I want to build confident, happy students.  I have worked with many children like this over my career and will ALWAYS meet you and them where they are.  If there is anything I can do in my classroom or in my tutoring to help them be successful, please let me know.

In 1996, I  graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Reading/Language Arts. Before homeschooling, I taught in Irving ISD for 4 years,  Richardson ISD for 1 year, and McKinney ISD for 3 years.

I LOVE to have fun. I enjoy spending time with my family, Crossfit, and love going to our church, Rise in Decatur.
